PERIMETER at HealthCom 2010

Gemma Power (WIT) will be presenting at the HealthCom 2010 conference next week.
This is the 12th International Conference on e-Health Networking, Application & Services IEEE Healthcom 2010 event and it takes place in Lyon France on 1-3 July 2010.
The presentation will centre around our accpeted PERIMETER paper entitled “Seamless Mobile Communications for mHealth”, which examines the use of mobile devices and technologies within the PERIMETER project in providing seamless mobile communications for mHealth. In particular, PERIMETER makes use of smart phones with intelligent sensors with sensing capabilities such as GPS location, proximity and accelerometers to create a mobile wireless sensor network to ensure sensitive health related information can be transferred in a seamless and timely fashion across different selected high quality network connections. This presentation will take place in Session 2 on “mHealth for Emergency Management” on July 1st. The paper will also be published in the Journal of eHealth Technology and Application to be distributed at the Healthcom2010 conference.
The conference is a very interesting one with sessions on Enabling Technologies, Enabling Information Systems, Enabling Applications, mHealth for Independent Living, mHealth for Emergency Management and U-Health. The full program is available here.

PERIMETER at FIREweek 2010

Next week will be a busy one for the PERIMETER consortium!
First, we have the second year review for the project and then it is straight onto the Future Internet Research and Experimentation (FIRE) event in Barcelona, Spain.
The review will take place at PERIMETER partner’s GFI offices in Barcelona on Tuesday 29th June 2010.
FIREweek 2010 takes place in Barcelona, Spain at the Communication Campus of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

Members of PERIMETER will attend the FIRE event, taking place on 30 June – 1 July.
Members of PERIMETER will take part in the Brokerage Event on 30th June. The brokerage event is being organised within the framework of the FIREweek 2010 in order to bring together representatives from the ongoing FIRE projects and other participants. The aim of the meetings is to discuss future collaboration in the forthcoming FP7 Calls, Technology Transfer agreements, etc. Please find the catalogue for the project profiles and representatives here. If you would like to meet with any of the PERIMETER team, you will need to register your interest here before June 27th so the meeting can be set up in time. We would be delighted to meet with you in this regard.

PERIMETER paper accepted to INTERNET 2010

We are pleased to announce that our paper entitled “Providing an User Centric Always Best Connection” was accepted to the INTERNET 2010 conference.
The paper provides an insight into how user centric seamless mobility is being achieved by PERIMETER, beginning with an explanation of QoE and the need for preferences. More details of the complete system, including QoE management, user feedback and the final delivery, are provided. An outlook is given on PERIMETER’s future plans and its contributions to research in the Future Internet.
This conference which is the second International Conference on Evolving Internet, will take place in Valencia Spain on 20-25 September 2010.
